Honeylife is a world leader in Australian Healthy bee products which are all 100% Australian. Australia’s wide open spaces, clean natural environment and summer weather offer perfect conditions for the production of bee honey nectar.
Manuka Honey is produced by bees that collect nectar from the Manuka Bush or Tea Tree (Leptospermum Scoparium) native only to Australia and New Zealand. Bees gather nectar from the flowers of the Manuka Tree and in the hive an enzyme called glucose oxidase, to the nectar in order to preserve the honey. When Manuka Honey comes into contact with body fluids, glucose oxidase slowly releases the antibacterial hydrogen peroxide. Levels of hydrogen peroxide released are not high enough to damage tissue but sufficient enough to affect bacteria.
Studies have shown that Manuka Honey contains an ingredient with powerful antibacterial, anti microbial, antiviral, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.
Australia uses the MGO rating system. The higher the MGO level, the higher the health benefits of Manuka Honey. Honeylife Manuka Honey is tested at an independent laboratory to determine the MGO level in each batch.
